What started off with adequate compression and spark was a real exercise in frustration. Fuel flow problems, electrical and then finally realizing it hand the wrong bottom carburetor. In the end it was well worth it. Now it should be reliable and trouble free.

I suffered a lot of abuse as a child and lost most my family in awful circumstances .I was given a small payout and bout a boat it saved me its basically a floating apartment that i spend time on when i need a break

My first ride in a motor boat was an 18’ sidewinder with a 455 olds motor and a berkley jet drive. 30 years later while working a scrap yard, a guy backed up a boat trailer to scrap. I asked what boat use to be on it. He said, you probably never heard of it, but a sidewinder. I told him, you have a 1971 18’ sidewinder with a 455 olds motor and a berkley jet drive! He stood there with his mouth open, and when he finally spoke, he asked how I knew. I told him that was my favorite boat.

Thanks for the info. I have inflammation from time to time that causes insomnia, and im hoping to try dex when this happens to alleviate the pain, and sleep.

Sweet! I had a 19' Taylor jet boat, that i purchase because it reminded me of the Sidewinder I would see at our Marina as a kid. It was grossly over-powered and would do wheelies heading out the Farm river, into Long Island Sound😁

That is a classic scuba diver back roll or backward roll water entry. If you can't re-board your dinghy doing the reverse flip, there's always the dip (down into the water) and pop (out of the water) while holding the handles. Nice job, Doc.

Does the all wheel drive still work? This was the first AWD car in the US with a viscous diff iirc. A HS friend had one and it was a great vehicle- way ahead of its time. But those viscous diffs eventually dry up.

Unless the hundreds to thousands of dollars you would pay to Aventura motors or other dealer is worth it to you consignment dealers may not do anything you would not have already tried. Recently I've had success on free listings in Marketplace and classic sites like Hemmings motor news.

The only article I have read in years past is a possible link to necrosis of the femoral head in orthopedics. But I think they were large systemic dosages. Thanks again....

Decadron - dexamethasone is the most potent anti-inflammatory we have on the planet. If you believe, like I do, that inflammation and swelling is the cause of acute pain then low dose; short term Decadron maybe the answer.

This was the last MGB V8 conversion in my collection. It really is the way to go. I call it my Cobra killer and the classic lines never gets old.

It's been a year since the MATE act was passed. There still is a lot of confusion of how this applies to most prescribers. Many of the programs to satisfy the requirement are free or low cost. There is no reason to pay hundreds of dollars for a course to satisfy this new federal requirement.

Is it true that all convertible 300’s are N/A from the factory? Did they ever make a Twin Turbo that was a convertible?

Why do you put the sunvisors down?...that's not necessary. Also before you put the top up, you must already release the latches first, so they don't hit / damage the top side of the bracket where they hook in. ;)

I had an '80 with a 4.0 Rover V8 and a 5-speed. Even though it had an aluminum radiator, it still ran too hot for my liking, since it had those two small yellow OEM pusher fans. I replaced those with a single electric fan, still didn't do the job. Ended up also installing a mechanical puller fan, and in combo with the single electric fan, that did the job.

Unfortunately the rubber bumper and ride height ruin the looks for me. I have owned a few , including a V8 roadster which I rebuilt on an Heritage shell, even the new shell had poor panel gaps. I originally used twin SUs, but later changed to Edelbrook and twin spark Mallory distributor, yes, electric fans essential, but even then overheating was a problem. I am UK, so spares are abundant.

Had one for about a week and a half that needed extensive work (in the 1970s), until I found out how next to impossible replacement parts were to get. I also had a 1964 Jaguar XKE Roadster, so kept that one instead. Wish I'd kept both now!

hard to hear but did you say the transom was shot from trailering? If so thats a lot of work not as easy as people say. i cant believe sidewinder made these without a pad, but the interior is amazing on this one. the hens tooth as you know is the 14' one. i had one with a 115 around 2005 shouldve held onto that one.

Great idea. I've also discovered a quick way to address denture teeth that come out of the base intact. I found Max1 Glue some years ago. It's a Super Glue that bonds instantly to almost any material. I keep it in the freezer for extra long life. The salesman told me he's sold a lot of it to dentists for denture repairs, and, believe me, it works. With your repair technique and that glue we have a winning combination!

The reason is an 18 three is if you combine the platform and probably the swim I or the chair with a vowel it measures 18.3 foot that’s why that brand of that boat that way.

That sidewinder looks very similar to a picton 150gts speedboat, made in wales UK in the 1980's. I wonder if there is any connection between the brands

I have never seen a Searay like that before, the later ones are common here in the UK but not ones that early. Makes my 30 year old boat look less of a classic 😂

Dad bought a Sea Ray Tri hull in 1968 w/ a 125 mercruser I/O. That boat was used as a ski and fishing boat on Puget Sound and fished 10 miles out into the Pacific Ocean off Neaha Bay. A great stable roomy boat! Thanks for the memory.
